Scotland bowler Majid Haq has been sent home from the Cricket World Cup after posting a racial tweet after being dropped for his side’s clash with Sri Lanka on Wednesday.

Despite being Scotland’s most successful current bowler, Haq took just three wickets in five matches at the World Cup and was pushed out of Scotland’s side for its 148-run loss to Sri Lanka.
Haq tweeted: “Always tougher when your in the minority!! #colour #race.”
The 32-year-old, who is of Pakistani descent, later deleted the post.
“Following a breach of Cricket Scotland’s internal code of conduct, international team member, Majid Haq, is travelling home from the ICC World Cup,” a statement read.
“No further statement will be issued until internal processes have been completed in due course.”
Scotland faces Australia in its final Pool A clash in Hobart on Saturday.
