Nikita Miller has been called up to the West Indies squad for the upcoming World Cup to replace spinner Sunil Narine, according to the ABC.
Miller, a slow left-armer, last featured in a one-day international back in March 2014 against England.
Narine withdrew from the West Indies’ squad on Tuesday after admitting he needed more time to adjust to a new bowling action.
Narine’s bowling action was deemed illegal twice whilst playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the T20 Champions League last September.
Although not under any sanctions from the International Cricket Council (ICC), Narine said the World Cup had come too soon.
“Whilst I am very happy with the progress made to date with my action…..I am withdrawing from the World Cup,” he is quoted as saying by Times of India.
“Going into the World Cup is a little too much too soon and, after consulting the WICB, for both West Indies and my sake we have decided to delay my return to international cricket until I am 100% confident in all that I do,” he added.
The West Indies opens its World Cup campaign against Ireland on February 16 in Nelson in New Zealand.
