Costa has been one of the key contributors to the Blues’ title march this season, bagging himself 20 goals in what was also his maiden campaign in English football.
He had struggled with a number of injury problems throughout the season, too, and had only returned to first team action a fortnight ago to partake in the club’s title celebrations.
This weekend he was in line to take part of the game that sees Chelsea take on a Thailand select XI, but may now miss out after being on the receiving end of a robust tackle from John Obi Mikel in training.
The Nigerian midfielder apologised to his teammate, but the Spaniard was forced to limp off the pitch with his boot in his hand.
Costa was well enough to sign autographs with fans after the session, though it’s still not known the extent of the damage caused by the challenge.
