Cronulla Sharks captain Paul Gallen has revealed that he would like to end his career in the English Super League.
The 33-year-old said he would play one more season in the NRL in 2016 before heading off to end his career in Europe.
Gallen’s contract with the Sharks ends at the conclusion of the 2015 season, however he has indicated that he plans to sign a one-year extension to remain at the club.
“Next year is going to be the 50th year of the club and that’s something I want to be a part of. I’ve been at the club my whole career,” Gallen told Fairfax Media.
“I still think I have a lot to offer the game. I want to stay at one club to be honest with you so I think it will be good for me and the club to go one more year.
“In a perfect world for me, I’d like to get one more year at Cronulla, play rep football that year then have a look at an option overseas.”
Cronulla opens its NRL 2015 campaign on March 8 when they play host to the Canberra Raiders.
