Liverpool fans are calling for Brendan Rodgers’ head after three straight matches without a win.
Ever since their brutal 3-1 loss to Man United this past weekend, Liverpool fans have been working day and night to come up with some kind of way to get manager Brendan Rodgers fired. Shockingly, the plan hasn’t worked out so well.
A GoFundMe crowdfunding campaign that was famously started in order to raise the money needed to get Liverpool ownership to trigger Rodgers’ release clause has fallen a bit short of its £7 million (€10m) goal.
As of 22 hours since being set up, the campaign has raised a whopping €135 (£99) towards their goal.
Thus far, several anonymous donors have paid a combined €70 towards the goal, with some more vocal donors giving anywhere from €5-20 with such quotes as:
1. “The Great Liverpool do not deserve this humiliation!!”
2. “I’m sorry brendan, I used to love you. But my heart knows patience closer to life than Rooney’s wife. I shop for Klopp”
3. “Go to hell BR”
Several donors have also referenced Jurgen Klopp as the man they want to replace Rodgers. Klopp – a two-time German Football Manager of the Year – led Borussia Dortmund to a pair of Bundesliga titles, two DFL-Super Cup wins and a Champions League runner-up showing in 2013.
Since taking over managerial duties for Liverpool in 2012, Rodgers has led the Reds to 82 wins in 160 appearances and won three Manager of the Month awards.
