Eagles are desperate to add more firepower to their attack next season.
Newly promoted Premier League outfit Crystal Palace are on the verge of signing former West Ham United front man Carlton Cole, according to reports in the Croydon Advertiser.
The experienced ex-England international has just been released by the Hammers after seven successful seasons in the East End of London, during which time the 29-year-old managed to find the back of the net on 48 occasions in his 210 Premier League appearances for the Hammers.
However, after only netting two goals in the entire 2012/13 campaign for Sam Allardyce’s men, the centre forward was not offered a new contract by West Ham this summer to extend his stay in the capital, meaning that Eagles head coach Ian Holloway will be able to bring the player to Selhurst Park on a free transfer.
And the South Londoners will be happy to have on board an attacker with 12 years of Premier League experience behind him when they kick off the new campaign.
