The Detroit Lions fell to 3-2 as they blew a 14-0 lead to the Buffalo Bills and were stunned, 17-14, on a 58-yard field goal by Bills kicker Dan Carpenter.
Their loss was largely due to kicker Alex Henery missing three field goals, including an attempt at the end that very well could have won the game for the Lions.
Henery was signed by the Lions a couple of weeks ago to replace rookie Nate Freese, who had also been struggling with his field goals for the Lions.
However, Henery’s stint in Detroit was awful as he only made 1-0f-5 of his field goal attempts, and his woes made the team’s overall field goal attempts 1-for-9.
The Lions are reportedly expected to work out Jay Feely and Matt Prater, who was recently cut by the Denver Broncos after his four-game suspension came to an end.
Signing Prater would give the Lions a major upgrade at kicker, and Feely can only do better than Freese and Henery.
