The New York Jets cut quarterback Tajh Boyd to make room for starter Geno Smith and backups Michael Vick and Matt Simms.
The New York Jets cut ties with rookie quarterback Tajh Boyd after selecting him in the sixth round of this year’s draft.
This was due to the Jets already having three other quarterbacks on the roster, and Boyd had not impressed enough in the preseason.
Geno Smith is set to be the starting quarterback for the Jets, and Michael Vick will be the primary backup. Matt Simms will likely make the roster too as a third-stringer.
Here is a tweet from the team’s official Twitter account confirming Boyd’s release.
