Manchester United midfielder Daley Blind has issued a rallying call to his Old Trafford teammates, warning that their star-studded dressing room is facing a difficult future if they don’t realise that their reputations count for nothing.

Blind admitted that the United squad were surprised by Radamel Falcao’s exclusion from Louis van Gaal’s squad for the game against Southampton on Sunday, but reasoned that the decision would act as something of a wake-up call.
The Dutch international, who was quoted by the Daily Star, reminded his fellow United players no one has a divine right to start and the team must always come first, saying: “The prices (transfer fees) in the team are expensive, and the manager has said that as well.
“So you have to train, every day, very hard to show yourself and show that you really want to play. We are one team, we have to do it with each other, whichever eleven the coach chooses.
