The Dutchman believes David de Gea, Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata are all in with a shout of picking up the gong, having impressed and maintained a consistent level of performance throughout the campaign.
Blind himself has made a positive impression during his maiden season with the club, but he sees his three teammates as operating on the next level.
De Gea was named in the PFA’s Team of the Year, thanks to his heroics between the sticks, while Rooney has filled in a number of roles both up front and in midfield with distinction.
But it is Mata he has singled out for special praise, as the Spaniard scored important goals against rivals Man City and Liverpool over the past month.
“There have been a lot of good players this season. I think David has played a real good season, everybody knows that,” he said.
“Wayne has been very important to the team and he always scores important goals. Juan has been very important as well, so it could be very close. We will have to wait and see.”
