Louis van Gaal and Daley Blind are good friends, but the Old Trafford boss isn’t above kicking Blind in the rear.
Man United manager Louis van Gaal wasn’t in the best of moods following his club’s 2-1 road loss to Swansea City, but he had an especially harsh critique of his star defender Daley Blind.
In his post-match interview following a stunning loss that once again highlighted the team’s offensive deficiencies, LVG singled out his protege from the Dutch national team, calling Blind “a slow arse.”
“Daley is a slow arse, but he has a brilliant ability to read the game. Those kinds of players always survive,” the disappointed Van Gaal said, according to the Metro. “It isn’t about how much pace you have, but whether you have the ability to spot what is going to happen quicker.”
Van Gaal initially had Blind move around in different defensive roles when he signed the 25-year-old center back for £13.8 million last year. But Blind moved to the center back role full time, he has come under fire for his speed on the pitch despite leading Man United to three straight clean sheets to start the season.
