Spurs proving they can attract Europe’s best this summer…
Tottenham’s new £11.5m Danish playmaker Christian Eriksen joined Spurs because of the manager’s ambitious project, ITV football reports.
The 21-year-old playmaker has starred for Ajax in the past few seasons, wowing the Dutch fans with his intricate passing and fantastic technical ability. With fellow new signing Erik Lamela, he will add an extra element to the Spurs’ attack, which relied last season on the pace, power and directness of Moussa Dembele, Aaron Lennon and the soon to be departed Gareth Bale.
At just £11.5m, many believe Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas has got himself a real bargain, but it is the manager’s ambition that convinced the young Dane to move to north-London.
“Everyone has followed the development of Spurs and it’s something I want to be part of,” said Eriksen, who was chased by a large number of European clubs before his move to White Harte Lane.
Spurs have now signed Paulinho, Etienne Capoue, Roberto Soldado, Nacer Chadli, Erik Lamela, Vlad Chiriches and Eriksen himself, and with two wins from two, fans are understandably feeling buoyant about the season ahead.
Tottenham travel to the Emirates on Sunday to take on arch-rivals Arsenal, who have still yet to spend a penny on a transfer this summer.
