Danny Garcia takes on Lamont Peterson in a catch-weight bout on Saturday night in the main event on the PBC on NBC card from Brooklyn.
Where: Barclays Center, Brooklyn, New York.
When: Saturday April 11, 20:30 (ET)
Watch live: Watch online at NBC (USA only) and BoxNation (UK only)
Garcia (29-0, 17 KOs) takes on Peterson (33-2-1, 17 KOs) at a 143-pound catchweight with no titles on the line, but it could have a significant effect on both the welterweight and junior welterweight divisions moving forward.
Both men appear to be on their way towards the 147-limit where the big fights are there in a welterweight division packed with talent including the likes of Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.
However, neither fighter will be looking that far ahead as Garcia is the favourite to inflict another loss on his American rival and in the process protect his unbeaten record.
Garcia is arguably one of the most underrated fighters in the sport, as despite wins over the likes of Lucas Matthysse, Amir Khan, Zab Judah and Erik Morales, questions continue to be asked about him.
While there are certainly holes in his performances, to have reigned as a world champion for so long demands a degree of respect and he will hope to continue to climb towards the pinnacle of the sport with another win on Saturday.
Peterson will likely make this an awkward clash as he will use his toughness and strength to make it scrappy as he doesn’t possess the power to end this before the final bell.
In contrast, Garcia does have that power and provided that he can find his rhythm and has room to manoeuvre, he will be confident of his chances of picking up the win.
This fight is certainly a tough one to call as there are big question marks hanging over both men, but the unbeaten Garcia should come through a scrappy encounter on a points decision.
Garcia and Peterson are expected to ring walk at around 03:30 a.m. UK time.
