Liverpool striker Danny Ings continued to stake his claim for a starting role under Brendan Rodgers after scoring against Carlisle.
The former Burnley took his opportunity after a well-timed run into the box left him unmarked and with an easy finish as he headed home in the Capital One Cup clash at Anfield.

Although the hosts conceded shortly after and went into the break level, Ings will have been boosted with his second goal in as many games as he continues to push for a spot in the starting line-up.
With Christian Benteke reportedly out for two weeks due to injury, as reported by The Guardian, the English striker will be hopeful that he can play his way into the team and make it an easy choice for Rodgers moving forward with his main striker sidelined.
Nevertheless, it will still be a difficult task for Ings given that Daniel Sturridge returned from injury at the weekend and he will face further competition from the likes of Roberto Firmino and Adam Lallana.
