The Spanish shot-stopper has yet to feature for United this season as speculation over his future continued to dominate headlines, but he hopes to return against Liverpool on Saturday.
“Now we need to continue to work and let’s see if I’m also lucky in my club. My future is going to be the same as it is now. I’m calm, will continue to work and improve,” he told reporters.
“In conclusion, I’m enjoying football. I’m happy.”
It remains to be seen if United boss Louis Van Gaal gives him the chance to earn his spot back, with Sergio Romero revealing this week that he is ready for the competition.
However, it is widely acknowledged that de Gea is the more talented of the pair and will make a significant difference to the team provided that he is focused on the task in hand now that the transfer window is closed.
