Manchester United fans reportedly launched a foul-mouthed tirade at David de Gea prior to the Red Devils’ Champions League play-off match against Club Brugge on Wednesday.
De Gea has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid this summer and is yet to make an appearance for the Premier League giants this season.
According to The Sun, De Gea tried to slip into Old Trafford quietly before the match before he was spotted by a large group of United fans who chanted “f*** off you penny-pinching b*****d”.
The report suggests the 24-year-old gloveman was left visibly shaken by the incident.
Argentine international Sergio Romero has started all three of United’s games this season and performed admirably despite a few nervy moments with the ball at his feet.
De Gea’s contract with the Red Devils expires at the end of the season and he seemed destined to join Real Madrid this summer.
However, the two clubs are yet to agree a fee and it seems the former Atletico Madrid man could leave on a free transfer in 2016.
