Real Madrid have reportedly turned its attentions again to snaring the signature of Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea with it appearing likely Sergio Ramos will sign a new deal with the La Liga giants.
According to The Independent, United are holding out for a £28m bid from Real Madrid to offload the 24-year-old, however, the Red Devils have now lost bargaining power in the deal.
De Gea has just a year to run on his contract at Old Trafford, and Real Madrid believe United’s asking price is exorbitant considering the player could become available for free at the end of next season.
The Red Devils were understood to be planning to include Sergio Ramos as part of a deal that saw De Gea head to the Bernabeu, but the 29-year-old is now believed to be on the verge of signing a new deal with the Spanish club.
Real Madrid will be wary of the fact that should it not sign De Gea this summer it allows United a whole year to convince the former Atletico Madrid man to change his mind and sign a new deal with the Premier League giants.
Keylor Navas is the current number one at Real Madrid following the departure of Iker Casillas to FC Porto, and it remains to be seen if Rafael Benitez is confident in having the Costa Rican as his first-choice shot-stopper.
