Manchester United are reportedly ‘perplexed’ over Real Madrid’s handling of the negotiations over star goalkeeper David de Gea, according to reports.
De Gea has been heavily linked with a move to the Bernabeu this summer, however, the two clubs have not yet agreed a fee for the transfer to occur.
United are understood to be demanding a world record fee for a goalkeeper, but Real Madrid believe a fee over the £31m Juventus paid for Parma shot-stopper Gianluigi Buffon is exorbitant for a player in the final year of his contract.
According to Spanish newspaper Marca, United officials believe that Real Madrid are purposely holding up negotiations in order to get a better price for the 24-year-old.
The Red Devils on Monday announced the signing of Argentina goalkeeper Sergio Romero, but the report suggests United are growing frustrated with negotiations over De Gea as the club remains unclear on who will be its number one shot-stopper this season.
According to Metro, United have already agreed a transfer with Ajax over Jasper Cillessen, meaning the club could be prepared to allow De Gea to head back to Spain.
