De Gea is widely expected to leave the Red Devils and sign with Real Madrid.
However, Real’s pursuit continues to stall as Man United will not take just anything for their goalie.
Real have offered £20m for De Gea, but United are essentially laughing at that offer although De Gea is reportedly eager to head to Bernabeu.
Since De Gea is entering the final year of his contract with United, the Red Devils are potentially facing a situation where they let him walk as a free agent for nothing in return.
United are willing to risk this happening, according to The Mirror, as they have turned down Real’s offer.
The Red Devils are forcing Real to break the world record for goalkeeper by paying a £35m transfer fee.
There may be a trade in the works though, as United are pursuing a key Madrid player in defender Sergio Ramos.
Real have acted stubborn in their selling of Ramos as well, as they reportedly rejected a £35m offer from Man United.
