David de Gea‘s proposed transfer to Real Madrid is looking even more unlikely after Manchester United selected the defender in its Champions League play-off side to face Club Brugge next week.
De Gea has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer, however, Marca reports the 24-year-old will become cup-tied to the Red Devils should be feature and United win the play-off against the Belgian side.
It is unlikely that Real Madrid would be willing to splash the cash on De Gea if he is unable to play for the Spanish giants in the Champions League, but it remains to be seen if Louis van Gaal sticks with Sergio Romero as his first-choice in between the sticks.
Javier Hernandez has also been included in the squad despite reports linking the Mexican international with a move away from Old Trafford this summer.
All of United’s five new signings have all been selected for the do-or-die playoff tie with Club Brugge.
