Yet at 40-years-old the Welshman would certainly be an appointment for the future and few know the club better as the midfielder has been there for nearly as long as Ferguson was.
Giggs would also command respect from the playing staff as he is currently still one of them, although as popular a figure the 13-time league winner is with the fans, he may not be as a manager.
