Current Toffees coach rates England international extremely highly.
New Manchester United manager David Moyes will return to his old club Everton to make defender Phil Jagielka his first signing at Old Trafford, says the Sun.
Moyes was announced as the successor to replace the retiring Sir Alex Ferguson at United next season, with the Glaswegian expected to commence his duties with the Red Devils on 1 July.
Moyes, 50, has already been linked with a number of Everton players, including in-demand midfield player Marouane Fellaini and England full-back Leighton Baines.
However, it is understood that England international Jagielka will be his first signing in the north west, with the 30-year-old contracted to Goodison Park until the end of June 2017.
Jagielka, who is likely to cost £10 million, was brought to Merseyside by Moyes from Sheffield United in the summer of 2007 for just £4 million and in the intervening period the centre back has established himself as one of England manager Roy Hodgson’s first-choice picks at the heart of the Three Lions’ defence, wining 16 caps since making his debut in 2008.
