Young striker over the moon with squad inclusion.
Sporting Club de Goa forward Dawson Fernandes has been included in the Wim Koeverman’s preliminary 30 man squad for India’s friendly against Tajikistan on August 14th.
The 23-year old who won the I-League with Salgoacar FC in 2010, before moving to Sporting Goa where he picked up winners’ medals in both the Federation Cup and the Super Cup.
Speaking to to the Goa Herald Fernandes said: “My hard work has finally been recognised I thank them all for believing in me and giving me an opportunity to prove myself. The call for the national team is just the start.
Fernandes went on to explain his debt of gratitude towards De Goa: “When I left Salgaocar I was without a club and low on confidence. It was Sporting Club de Goa that nurtured my talent and I went on to earn ten caps, scoring nine goals in all competitions.”
The striker has scored in his last 2 games for Sporting, a 2-2 draw against Mumbai and a 3-0 victory over United Sikkim.
