Chelsea are inching closer to a deal for Augsburg starlet Baba Rahman, according to reports.
The Blues have been heavily linked with a move for the Ghanaian international in recent weeks, and Felipe Luis’ impending departure back to Atletico Madrid has paved the way for the move to be completed.
According to the London Evening Standard, Atletico Madrid have confirmed talks with Chelsea over Luis with the transfer fee expected to be close to the £16m Chelsea paid for the player last summer.
Luis struggled to make an impression at Stamford Bridge and played second fiddle to Spanish international Cesar Azpilicueta as Chelsea went on to claim its fifth league title.
The London Evening Standard reports Chelsea are closing in on a £14m deal for Rahman to replace Luis, with the youngster impressing in the Bundesliga last season.
Serie A giants AS Roma are also believed to be keen on Rahman, however it is reported the player had stalled his move to see whether Jose Mourinho would sell Luis.
The 21-year-old was rated the best left-back in the Bundesliga last season and would provide Azpilicueta with strong competition for a starting spot should he join the Premier League champions.
