West Bromwich Albion are believed to have agreed a fee with Manchester United for defender Jonny Evans.
Sky Sports understands that the Northern Ireland international will have a medical with Albion tonight.
“I would love to sign Jonny Evans,” Baggies boss Tony Pulis told reporters on Friday. “I think he would be a great signing, now it’s down to the money men and his side. Three parties have to agree: the two clubs and the player himself.”
Evans has made 198 appearances for the Red Devils and won three Premier League titles, but has not featured in any of Louis van Gaal’s squads this season despite injuries to Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo.
He has been encouraged to find a new club this summer, and the Baggies have now swooped late for the 27-year-old after their £5m deal for Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Federico Fazio collapsed.
It is anticipated that Evans’s arrival will prompt Joleon Lescott’s exit, with a £2m deal having been agreed with Aston Villa, and West Brom ready to sell now that they have found a replacement.
