The Denver Broncos beat the San Francisco 49ers 34-0 as their quarterbacks put on a clinic while linebacker Steven Johnson came up with another interception.
The Denver Broncos improved to 2-0 in preseason with a 34-0 blowout win over the San Francisco 49ers.
Quarterback Peyton Manning continued to look flawless as he completed 12-of-14 of his passes for 102 yards and a touchdown. Backups Brock Osweiler and Zac Dysert also picked apart the 49ers defense, and each of them threw a touchdown pass.
Running back C.J. Anderson led the Broncos in rushing with 29 yards and a touchdown while Ronnie Hillman added another 19 yards.
Wide receiver Demaryius Thomas continued to be Manning’s unquestioned No. 1 target as he led the team in receiving with five catches for 37 yards. Tight end Julius Thomas added another 33 yards and a touchdown on three catches. Rookie Cody Latimer made one catch, but he made it count as he took it 33 yards for a touchdown.
On defense, linebacker Steven Johnson continued to make a compelling case for an increased role by grabbing his second interception of the preseason and assisting in a sack.
The 49ers received another underwhelming performance from quarterback Colin Kaepernick as he threw for just 39 yards on 5-for-9 passing. Blaine Gabbert continued to look terrible as he threw another interception without moving the chains.
The running game was also pedestrian as it finished with only 69 total yards for 2.9 yards per carry.
