Broncos head coach John Fox now finds himself without his leading tackler from 2013 – but the team as a whole should be undaunted with several outstanding defensive cogs still there.
Broncos starting LB Danny Trevathan is reportedly out for 6-8 weeks according to NFL.com’s Ian Rappaport. Trevathan led the Broncos with over 150 tackles as a weak-side Linebacker in 2013.
Trevathan will likely be replaced by second-year OLB Brandon Marshall, a 5th-round pick by the Jaguars in the 2013 draft.
“Now, I’m familiar with the defense, I have a couple of years in the league, so I know what the NFL is about,” Marshall said on the Broncos’ team website. “So I’m definitely ready if the time was to come.”
The Broncos may not too badly damaged by the loss however. The team will see the return of former All-Pro Von Miller, who tore his ACL in 2013. The Broncos also Pro Bowl defenders OLB DeMarcus Ware, Safety T.J. Ward and CB Aqib Talib.
