The Denver Broncos have decided to use the franchise tag on their best wide receiver…
Denver Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas has become one of the elite wide receivers in the NFL since quarterback Peyton Manning joined the Broncos in the 2012 season.

Thomas was set to become a free agent in 2015, but the Broncos will use the franchise tag on him. They will have to pay the 2010 first-round pick $12.823 million for the 2015 season.
This may be a bargain for a receiver who has caught over 90 passes for at least 1,400 yards and 10 touchdown catches in each of his last three seasons.
Thomas caught a career-high 111 passes in the 2014 season, and he had shown his potential before the Manning era by catching four passes for 204 yards, including the game-winning 80-yard touchdown catch against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Due to the Broncos’ stacked free-agent class, they are expected to let go of Pro Bowl tight end Julius Thomas. Manning will restructure his contract, so signing Julius may become a possibility.
However, the Broncos have made it clear that Demaryius is their top priority.
