The Argentine’s move revolves around the future of the Spurs ace.
Manchester United may be able to secure Real Madrid star Angel Di Maria as the 25-year-old would want to leave Spain if the club sign Tottenham Hotspur’s Gareth Bale, according to the Daily Star.
It’s no secret that Madrid have been in pursuit of Bale for some time and are prepared to pay a world record sum for the Welshman, meaning Di Maria would fall down the pecking order at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Therefore Spurs’ loss would be United’s gain as the talented winger would arrive at Old Trafford having impressed in the Spanish capital.
Di Maria has spent three years with Los Blancos following a £29m transfer from Benfica in the summer of 2011 and has since gone onto score 25 goals and provide 61 assists, in 137 matches in all competitions.
During that time the Argentina international has won the Copa Del Rey and helped Madrid prize away Barcelona’s grasp on the La Liga trophy in 2012, with a record 100 points.
With talisman Cristiano Ronaldo operating mainly from the left, Di Maria has been the foil for the Portuguese maestro on the right flank and has flourished at the club.
Yet Bale operates in a similar position to both Ronaldo and the South American and it certainly won’t be the club’s top-scorer that makes way for the Wales international in the starting XI.
Di Maria has too much talent to simply sit on the bench at the Bernabeu and would bring a new level of creativity to the Red Devils.
