That’s the face of a champion. Will Liverpool bring Lucas Digne and his floppy tongue to Anfield this summer?
Though their defense was their Achilles’ heel last season, the Reds have focused on scoring up to this point in the transfer window. Now they have a bright young defensive star on the target list as well: PSG’s Lucas Digne.
According to the Metro, Liverpool have begun talks with Paris Saint-Germain in London about a deal for the 22-year-old French center back. The Metro reported that Liverpool officials have met with PSG owner Nasser Al Khelaifi and Sporting Director Olivier Letang to hammer out a deal for the French starlet.
Digne has made 29 appearances for PSG over the last two seasons since signing on a €15 million transfer. But his value for the French national team has been very strong, with over 75 caps and 3 goals since 2008 for every “Under-” team in his country.
The Red struggled defensively last season, giving up nine goals in the final two weeks of the season and finishing with a goal differential of just four. The Anfield outfit also lost two of their biggest stars with legendary Steven Gerrard moving to the United States and joining the MLS, and selling prized midfielder Raheem Sterling to Manchester City.
