Cech had been on the outs in Chelsea with club manager Jose Mourinho favoring Thibaut Courtois during the 2014-15 Championship season. Though Mourinho was reportedly reluctant to sell Cech to a Premier League rival, the Mail Online reported that Cech preferred to stay in London, close to his family and club owner Roman Abramovich acquiesced.
In 11 seasons with the Blues, Cech was a three-time Premier League Golden Glove winner and was the Chelsea Player of the Year in 2011. With over 160 career clean sheets with Chelsea, Cech is just a few away from setting the Premier League all-time record currently held by David James – the difference between them it, it’ll have taken Cech over 200 attempts than it did James.
