Real Sociedad have confirmed that they have re-signed Asier Illarramendi from Real Madrid.
The Spanish midfielder had been linked with Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
He joined Madrid for £24m in 2013, but made only 25 league starts in two seasons at the Bernabeu, and Rafael Benitez’s signing of Mateo Kovacic last week signalled the end of his Blancos career.
Sociedad, managed by former Manchester United boss David Moyes, have been public about their desire to bring Illarramendi back to San Sebastian and have managed to seal a deal.

Arsenal are thought to be looking at Sevilla’s Grzegorz Krychowiak as an alternative target, while Spurs have identified Southampton star Victor Wanyama as the answer to their midfield problems.
