Jones has been at the Britannia Stadium for three-and-a-half years since a £8m transfer from Sunderland – which remained a record deal for the club until the signing of Peter Crouch.
During that time the 29-year-old has scored 31 goals in 130 appearances for the Staffordshire side, which included helping them to the FA Cup final in 2011.
Odemwingie meanwhile has only been with the Bluebirds since the summer of 2013, after completing a £2.5m switch from West Bromwich Albion and has since played 17 times for the Welsh side.
The Nigeria international rose to fame at the Hawthorns however, arriving from Lokomotiv Moscow in 2010 and going onto score 31 goals and provide 17 assists in 90 games.
However, the 32-year-old ruined what was a good rapport with the Baggies fans in January 2013 when Odemwingie made a very public effort to join QPR.
The forward even drove to Loftus Road from Birmingham to compete the deal and gave what was to become a cringe-worthy interview on Sky Sports News, as the transfer never happened.
