Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford has joined Derby County on loan for the remainder of the season, the Sky Bet Championship club have confirmed.
Bamford moves to Pride Park as a former Nottingham Forest youngster, and the England Under-21 star may have some work to do to win over the Rams’ fans.
The 20 year-old has had a great start to 2013-14, spent at League One side Milton Keynes Dons, and has scored an impressive 16 goals and three assists in 29 appearances.
It is that prolific first half of the campaign that has seen him step up a league for the second part of the season, and Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho will be monitoring his progress until May with an eye on next term.
The Portuguese boss has discussed his desire to improve his strikeforce openly this season, and if Bamford can display the same instinct for goals in the Championship that he has in League One with MK Dons, this loan move could be a decent pathway to the Chelsea first team squad.
