The 16-year-old winger took to Instagram to announce the deal and becomes Brendan Rodgers’ seventh signing as the Reds look to improve on its disappointing season last term.
Adekanye spent last season on loan with Eredivisie heavyweights PSV Eindhoven, and Daily Star reports the Dutch club was keen to sign the Nigerian on a permanent deal, however the Reds have won the race for the highly-rated youngster’s signature.
He joined Barcelona in 2011 to join Barcelona’s La Masia youth system, however his transfer was deemed illegal by FIFA and was banned from playing for the club.
Despite being eligible to play for the Catalan giants in January, Adekanye chose to join the Reds.
He wrote on his Instagram page: “I’m very happy to sign for Liverpool.”
