Liverpool have seemingly offloaded Spanish flop Iago Aspas, with La Liga club Sevilla confirming that they have agreed, in principle, a deal to bring the player to the club on a season-long loan deal.
Aspas has enjoyed a frustrating season in the Premier League since arriving at Anfield from La Liga club Celta Vigo, scoring just one goal – in a cup tie against League One strugglers Oldham Athletic.
He is still highly rated in his native Spain, however, and he is likely to be viewed as something of a coup for Sevilla, who are looking to build on their wonderful Europa League winning campaign under the guidance of Unai Emery.
The report on the official Sevilla website suggests that an agreement to sign Aspas on a season-long loan deal has been agreed in principle, but is still dependent on a medical being passed and contracts being signed before it can be confirmed officially.
With Aspas and Liverpool head honcho Ian Ayre reportedly on their way to Seville to finalise the deal, however, it seems that it is a formality that Aspas will return to La Liga in the coming days.
