Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez has joined Bayer Leverkusen in a £12m deal, according to reports.
Hernandez had been strongly linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer, and The Daily Mail reports the Mexican international has penned a three-year deal with the Bundesliga heavyweights.
According to the report, the 27-year-old said goodbye to his teammates following United’s shock 2-1 loss to Swansea City on Sunday with Louis van Gaal understood to have given a speech thanking the former Guadalajara man for his services to the club.
Hernandez struggled to make an impact with the Red Devils this season despite enjoying a strong loan stint with Real Madrid last season.
The striker missed a penalty during United’s Champions League play-off win over Club Brugge last week and did not seem to be a key part of Van Gaal’s plans for this season.
United have been linked with a move for Brazilian ace Alexandre Pato, while Southampton’s Sadio Mane is understood to be a key target.
