Roma win the race for Argentine starlet.AS Roma have confirmed the signing of exciting Argentine youngster Juan Iturbe for around £17.3m, as reported on their official website.
Widely regarded as one of the best young players in the world at the moment, Iturbe has penned a five-year contract at the Stadio Olimpico, following an impressive loan spell with fellow Serie A outfit Hellas Verona last season.
The 21-year-old has also played for Porto and River Plate in his career so far, and is a regular for Argentina at Under-20 level, though he is yet to earn a call-up to the senior squad, who were recently beaten 1-0 by Germany in the World Cup final.
Iturbe has inevitably been likened to his fellow countryman Lionel Messi, and Roma will be delighted to have beaten a host of other top clubs to his signature, with the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Real Madrid recently linked with him as well.
Roma look strong for next season after also signing England veteran Ashley Cole on a free transfer, and will hope to progress after finishing second under Rudi Garcia last season.
