Former NFL friendship turns ugly off the field.
Donovan McNabb has made the startling claims be beleives rising star Robert Griffin III is being ‘brainwashed’ by team offcials at the Washington Redskins.
The former Redskin quarterback beleives RGIII was doing too much talking off the field as he recovered from surgery to a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
“I honestly think that over there in Washington, he’s getting brainwashed,” McNabb said.
“He’s getting input from whoever it may be on, ‘There’s no reason to talk to him, it didn’t work out here.’
“Clearly the young generation, they think they have all the answers,” McNabb said. “He’s going through a little turmoil right now, trying to make it out on the field, and it’s unfortunate.
“But that’s where we’re at right now as far as these young quarterbacks who think they have all the answers. Until things start to fall apart and come down trembling on you, then you want some help. But it’s a shame.”
McNabb spent an ill-fated season with the Redskins in 2010, where he clashed with coach Mike Shanahan.
Despite this he signed a new deal with the club, but was soon let go, with his absence paving the way for Washington to draft Griffin III.
However, after McNabb’s comments directed at him, RGIII is not wanting to pay the former player any attention.
“I don’t think Donovan is an idiot by any means. But right now, it’s probably best that we don’t talk,” Griffin III said.
