The 43-year-old bagged a hat-trick for the Stags.
Tampines Rovers veteran Aleksandar Duric admits to feeling a sense of relief after the 6-2 win over Brunei DPMM.
Following a morale sapping draw with Albirex Niigata last time out the Stags desperately required three points to alleviate the subsequent gloom and they did so in emphatic fashion at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium, with Duric registering a hat-trick to take his tally to 12 for the season.
Victory was just what the doctor ordered 43-year-old striker, who feels his team-mates recovered well from the anguish of failing to beat Albirex on Wednesday.
“It was a good win and we needed to win after the disappointing result with Albirex at home earlier this week,” he remarked to Goal Singapore.
“Today we played very well. It was a fantastic game! It was 50-50 in the first half and we didn’t really dominate, so we decided that we needed to raise our game because we were a bit sluggish in the middle and rushing forward too fast.
“But I think in the second half, there were better deliveries. There were some nice crosses and a few nice goals. As a striker, a good delivery is important. That was the difference. Today was our day.”
Tampines hold an 11 point lead over Albirex at the top of the S.League with just two games remaining in the season.
