Oldest football tournament in India kicks off
Though the focus of many of the nations football fans will be on the upcoming SAFF Championships in Nepal, during the same time some of India’s top club sides will be participating in the Durand Cup.
Mohammedan Sporting,Mumbai Tigers and Pune FC are among the sides involved.
The tournament has two separate stages, the first is a qualifying round which will take place on September 2nd, the day after India take on Pakistan in the SAFF Cup.
The final stage begins on september 19th, where two groups of six sides will battle it out for a place in the semi finals.
Air India won last year’s tournament beating Dodsal on penalties in the final.
