Dutch reporter Arno Vermeulen, who works for NOS, the equivalent of the BBC in Holland, has named the XI he reckons could for start for Louis van Gaal’s Manchester United next season.
It includes five new signings, and will no doubt excite United fan greatly ahead of the 2014/15 campaign.
GK) David de Gea
The Spanish keeper doesn’t need replacing after an excellent season last time out, proving to everyone why he’ll probably start for United between the sticks for the next decade.
DR) Daryl Janmaat
The 24-year-old starts on the right of the defence for both Feyenoord and the Dutch national team, and is crucially rated very highly by Louis van Gaal. He’s defensively solid, but also provides an attacking threat up the flank, and could arrive to challenge Rafael.
DC) Phil Jones
With Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic leaving, it might finally be time for Jones to step up to the plate at Old Trafford. Sir Alex Ferguson famously claimed that Jones could develop into United’s greatest ever player, but he’ll need an experience head alongside him…
