Florida State QB says Philadelphia, Cleveland and Buffalo are among teams showing interest in him.
While Florida State Quarterback E.J Manuel will not be hearing his name called on the first night of the NFL Draft, that hasn’t stopped the Quarterback prospect from airing his feelings about the number of teams that have told him that they are interested in taking the Quarterback at some point.
Considered a second-or third round pick this year, the 23-year old told csnphilly.com that there were a number of teams that wanted to pick him, including the Philadelphia Eagles.
“They want me pretty bad.” the confident Quarterback said.
“But I think it’s just a matter of who takes me first, because I know the Eagles may want me, the Cleveland Browns may want me, the Buffalo Bills and the Jets.
“I think those are all sequential picks, you know what I mean, within those top 13 picks or whatever. I’m just hoping one team loves me, because really, that’s all you need, one team to fall in love with you.”
It seems that Manuel has great confidence on being selected inside the top 15 this week, which is highly unlikely, thanks in part to questions surrounding his own game, which includes the inability to read a defence, and the fact there are better players out there which should be drafted ahead of him.
Once again, Manuel is another breed of the mobile QB who can extend plays with his feet and become a nightmare for team’s to gameplan against. Whether he can develop his passing game to a level that he can stand in the pocket and make a variety of NFL standard throws is key to his development, and is one reason why he is not considered a top selection in this year’s draft.
