Arsenal: Mesut Ozil
Many are already claiming that £42m Mesut Ozil, the Premier League’s most expensive ever import, is the best player in the country. Arsenal did brilliantly to snap up the wonderful German playmaker, who will be charged with turning the Gunners from top four contenders into genuine title challengers. His fantastic technical ability and creative awareness means his relationship with Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere in advanced midfield positions will see a hat-full of chances made for on-form striker Olivier Giroud.
Tottenham: Erik Lamela
The £30m Argentine prodigy will be the man Spurs rely on to bring the magic to White Harte Lane now Gareth Bale has joined Real Madrid. Lamela bagged 15 in Serie A last term from a wide position, and Spurs fans will hope he not only hits a similar target this season, but also provides £26m striker Roberto Soldado with chances to feed upon. At only 21-years-old, we hope the pressure and the price-tag on Lamela’s shoulders isn’t too much.
Liverpool: Daniel Sturridge
Perhaps controversially, we’re going for Sturridge over Luis Suarez as Liverpool’s key man this season. Since arriving from Chelsea in January, the England man has developed into one of the most feared strikers in the country, scoring 16 goals from 20 appearances. His three league goals this season have all been winners, and see the Reds currently sitting pretty at the top of the table. During Suarez’s lengthy suspension, they have won seven and drawn one match, showing they are more than capable of performing without him. Sturridge on the other hand, is proving to be the focal point of an increasingly impressive side.
