The Nigerian striker formed an effective link-up with fellow countryman at Sporting CG.
East Bengal striker Edeh Chidi says he wants to recreate the partnership he shared with Dudu Obagbemi with new recruit James Moga.
The 25-year-old linked up with fellow Nigerian forward Dudu at Sporting Clube de Goa during the 2004/05 season and their telekinetic understanding on the pitch provided the goals that saw the Flaming Oranje finish runners in the old National Football League.
He is now plying his trade at the Salt Lake Stadium and was recently joined by Moga following his switch from I-League rivals Pune FC, where he scored 16 times in 24 games last term.
And Chidi believes that if he can build up a similar connection with the Sudan international to the one he had with Dudu they will be a potent strike force.
“Dudu and I had a wonderful understanding,” he told the India Telegraph.
“That was the reason behind our success when we played together. I want to develop that same sort of understanding with Mog.
“If we click together, we can pose a huge threat.”
With the addition of Moga and midfielder Ryuji Sueoka from Dempo S.C, Chidi feels East Bengal have all the components to launch a major challenge for the title this term.
“We have a very balanced side… We have a complete team this season… There is no reason why we cannot win the I-League
