Talks with the Belgian international’s representatives are said to be in an advanced stage and the club are hoping to have the forward commit his future to the club over the coming weeks.
The Blues are also hoping to deal a blow to Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint Germain, who had been linked with a move for the 23-year-old over the summer.
His new deal will be worth a whopping £10 million by it’s conclusion and he will be rewarded for his growing influence at the club this season.
The Chelsea forward, who was named the club’s player of the year at the end of last season, was given the No10 shirt vacated by Juan Mata at the start of the new campaign.
After initially finding life in west London difficult he has grown more comfortable with the arrival of Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa, who have relieved him of the dual pressures of scoring and creating for others.
