Although they led for over half the match, Spurs should leave Stade Louis II pleased with a point.
On paper, this was Tottenham’s hardest game in Europa League Group J. Let’s not forget that Monaco knocked Arsenal out of last season’s Champions League.
The result leaves Spurs top of the group, with four points from their first two games.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men were the better side for the majority of the contest, but they ended it on the back foot.
Monaco rallied after El Shaarawy’s leveller as Spurs relied on a smart save from Hugo Lloris and an excellent clearance by Danny Rose to maintain parity.
