Manchester United have not been flawless this season, having already lost twice – to Swansea City and PSV – but anything other than a comprehensive win against Sunderland on Saturday would be a huge shock.
The Red Devils are massive 1/5 favourites to beat Dick Advocaat’s Black Cats, who are in horrific form.
Sunderland have only won one game since the start of the 2014-15 campaign – and that came against League Two side Exeter City in the Capital One Cup.
With just two points from six Premier League games, Sunderland sit bottom of the table.
The Wearside outfit have the worst goal difference in the division, -7.
Sunderland’s awful start this term has been down to two simple factors – their struggle to score goals and the frequently with which they have conceded them.
Their problems in attack – they have scored just four goals in the league – are down to a lack of creativity.
Sunderland’s defensive woes – they have leaked 13 Prem goals already – have been the spectacular result of a complete lack of organisation and some rank individual errors.
Including their cup games, Sunderland have shipped 20 goals in eight matches. Many of those goals were self-inflicted. Three came from penalties, while this own goal, scored by Vito Mannone in Tuesday’s 4-1 loss to Manchester City, was the most comical of all.

United’s head-to-head record against Sunderland in recent years is not brilliant – the Old Trafford outfit have only won one of their last four league meetings.
Nevertheless, Sunderland are so bad right now that anything other than a United win would be absolutely stunning.
