Emre Can restored the positivity at Anfield, just as Jurgen Klopp’s home debut as Liverpool manager was threatening to go horribly wrong.

The Reds were trailing 1-0 to Rubin Kazan in what was looking like becoming their third consecutive Europa League game without a win.

However, Can bundled home to level the scores on 37 minutes, sparking hope of a second-half turnaround.

Can’s equaliser was not the game’s first moment which strengthened Liverpool’s position following their 15th-minute setback.

Liverpool’s real boost came seconds before Can found the net, with Oleg Kuzmin being sent off for picking up a second yellow card.

It was from the free kick conceded by Kuzmin’s fate-sealing foul on Can that Liverpool’s leveller came.
