Raheem Sterling: 8/10
The in-form Liverpool man deservedly started given his recent form at club level and was as lively as any of England’s forwards.
Wayne Rooney: 6/10
An average performance for Rooney’s high standards. The Man United man wasted a good chance from a free kick early on, and his finishing was awry all night.
Daniel Sturridge: 8/10
Sturridge continued his remarkable goal-scoring form with a well-placed header but struggled to get into the game form the right wing. He probably deserves a central striker role given his form for Liverpool this season.
SUBS:
Luke Shaw (Cole – 45′): 7/10
An impressive debut for the 18-year-old, who was unlucky not to record an assist after a fine low cross and looked great on the ball.
Adam Lallana (Wilshere – 59′): 8/10
The Southampton skipper looked comfortable at this level and more confident than any of his teammates on the ball. Lallana oozes class and
Danny Welbeck (Rooney – 60′): 7/10
A lively display from the Man United man, who was unlucky not to score after a couple of good chances were saved by Kasper Schmeichel.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Henderson – 77′): 6/10
A few nice touches from the Arsenal midfielder.
Andros Townsend (Sterling – 86′): N/A
The Spurs winger didn’t have enough time to make an impact but must hit form soon because Oxlade-Chamberlain and Sterling are outshining him in the league.
James Milner (Sterling – 88′): N/A
Short cameo.
